Barbarella is a 1968 science fiction film that was something of a critical flop at the time of its release. It has come to be considered a classic, as much for its style as its narrative. The New York Times called Barbarella “the most iconic sex goddess of the 60s”, the fashions influenced Jean-Paul Gaultier, Prince and Kylie – and the band Duran Duran were named after the film’s eccentric Doctor. This poster was designed for the American release and is more loyal to the visual themes of the film and is known as the Type B; this is a US one-sheet with some minor defects that are visible under close examination including pin holes.
